Man’s body recovered from Lewisville Lake after apparent drowning during Labor Day weekend

The body of a man was recovered Monday from Lewisville Lake, about a day after he jumped into the water and didn’t resurface.
A man was on the lake about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in a rented boat with friends when he jumped in to swim, according to a statement from the Lewisville Fire Department. He wasn’t wearing a life jacket and didn’t reemerge.
A game warden using a side-scan sonar located his body early Monday evening and the fire department’s dive team recovered it about 6 p.m., according to a statement from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The statement said the area of the lake the man jumped in was about 45 feet deep.
The victim’s identity had not been made public as of Tuesday morning, though the TPWD statement said he was 23 years old.
